5 Steps To Maintain A Youthful Appearance

By Rhonda Seriana

As we get older, our skin gets saggy and wrinkled and the muscles lose their tone. Unfortunately, we can look even older as a result of these natural ageing changes! There are a number of external factors that play a role in damaging the skin and leading to early onset of age-related changes, in addition to just age causing these changes.

Good skin care however, will ensure a youthful appearance for many years to come. Here are some skin care hints.

1. Eat fresh fruit and vegetables

Fresh fruit and vegetables are rich in antioxidants which fight free radicals that are formed in the body due to exposure to toxins and pollutants. Skin cells are destroyed, the ageing body is visibly changed, and some forms of cancer are caused by these free radicals. To counteract, neutralize and prevent these free radicals from attacking the cells and causing the early ageing, you should consume vitamin C and vitamin E rich foods.

2. Use sunscreen

Sunscreen contains sun protection factors that protect the skin from harmful ultraviolet rays that are emitted by the sun. These UV rays can damage skin cells and leads to certain forms of skin cancer from constant exposure. Help keep the skin younger by protecting the skin with sunscreens with a high SPF.

3. Employ facial scrubs

Face scrubs contains tiny particles that gently exfoliate the surface layers of the skin, allowing new skin cells to form, thus keeping the skin healthy. In addition, these products contain gentle skin cleansers that clean out dirt and bacteria from within the pores of the skin, keeping it healthy and preventing the formation of infections such as acne.

4. Botox injections

All over the world these days, botox injections are often used to have younger looking skin in just minutes. They increase the skin's tone and get rid of lines and wrinkles by blocking the nerves that supply the skin and muscles of the face. These days, it is the preferred treatment to stay young because it is so safe and effective. Younger looking skin is also very affordable with this treatment.

5. Enough sleep is important

Sleep plays an important role in maintaining our health, there is no doubt about that, and our youthful looks are no exception. Skin rejuvenation occurs at night when asleep, and all body functions are 'reset' following a good night's rest. Lack of sleep can also contribute to low immunity and weight gain.

Looking and staying young can be achieved in a number of different ways. The above 5 methods are just a tip of the iceberg, but if observed strictly can help one stay young for a years to come.
