Sebum belongs to the oil which is found on the top of the skin. Other ingredients with the oil about the skin are- sweat, lipids and environmental dirt. It's sebum, which contributes a great our body odor.

Sebum is odorless but its bacterial disintegration produces odor. That's the reason if you keep your skin clean of bacteria with anti bacterial soaps regularly, it is possible to reduce body odor with a great extent. Sebum reaches hair roots

and coats your hair and also reaches the skin from the hair follicles. Many people experience oily hair if tresses are still unwashed for day or two. That happens due to sebum. The Latin concise explaination sebum is fat.

How sebum is produced- sebum is produced by sebaceous glands. These glands are simply on most areas of the body. Except few, most sebaceous glands open into a hair follicle. Fundamental essentials sites of acne formation.

Are wrong conclusions. Drying excess oil will simply remove surface oil. And using oil control products is not going to increase sebum production. Sebum is needed to protect our skin, but increased manufacture of sebum results in oily skin and frequent acne flare-ups.
